SW-MOTECH aluminum engine guard/skidplate (Suzuki DL650 V-Strom, '04-), powdercoated blackSW-MOTECH aluminum engine guard/skidplate (Suzuki DL650 V-Strom, '04-), powdercoated black

Constructed of 3mm-thick aluminum for heavy-duty, light-weight protection. Baseplate includes side protectors that wrap around the engine block to provide both bottom and side protection. Available in bare aluminum or powdercoated black.

Yes, this product DOES fit the 2007 model!

Installation of the SW-MOTECH skidplate requires previous installation of the SW-MOTECH crashbars, which are sold separately.

The SW-MOTECH skidplate is not compatible with Givi or Hepco-Becker crashbars without the use of an additional adapter kit (sold separately).

The SW-MOTECH skidplate can be used without a centerstand, or with the SW-MOTECH, Suzuki or Hepco-Becker* centerstand.

The skidplate has a pre-drilled hole in the bottom so that the oil drain plug bolt can be accessed without removing the skidplate. This allows the oil to be changed without removing the skidplate. In order to change the oil filter, the skidplate's two rear mounting screws must be removed, and the two front mounting screws must be loosened to allow the skidplate to pivot out forward and allow access to the oil filter.

An additional small cutout in the bottom of the skidplate allows it to be mounted tightly against the bottom of the bike so that it does not reduce ground or cornering clearance. Early 2005 models had a solid bottom but unnecessarily reduced ground clearance. The cutout does not reduce protection.

Only two screws need to be removed from the plate to allow access behind the skidplate to change the oil and filter.

Please note: The distance from the edge of the skidplate to the oblong-circular shaped holes determine whether or not your skidplate is a first or second generation skidplate. The distance in from the left side to the center of the first oblong hole is 35mm, and the distance from the right side to the right oblong hole is 29mm. The distance between them is 120mm.

* The Hepco-Becker centerstand is a 1-to-1 copy of SW-MOTECH's first-generation centerstand. It does not reflect design improvements that have been made over time by SW-MOTECH.

This product cannot be used on bikes with a full replacement Leo Vince exhaust system.
