700 miles, 12 hours. |
I rode north and west from St. George onto Highway 50, the " Loneliest Road in America". There are a few passes, but mainly it is just high-elevation bowls that are 50 miles of completely straight highway. |

Amazon.com Fernley |
I made a short little stop to take pictures of the Amazon.com fulfillment center in Fernley, Nevada. It's a large center for Amazon, and it's something I heard a lot about when working for Amazon- but I'd never known what it looked like. Considering it was only a few seconds out of my way, I'm glad I rode through the parking lot. |

Iron Butt Association Memorial |
My only long stop of the day was at Gerlach to see the Iron Butt Memorial on Guru Lane. |

I didn't know that Guru Lane is mainly a Burning Man monument; the Iron Butt Memorial is just a small section of Guru Lane proper. It was kind of neat to ride along and see the monuments. |

As I was leaving Guru Lane, there were some wind, rain, and dust storms building. Luckily my route avoided most of them, but it was still cold, and getting colder. I tried to stop in Cedarville, California for the night, but both of the motels were full. I knew that since I'd been cold all day, I shouldn't try camping. So I went over the pass to Alturas, which is (thankfully) a larger town. I got a room- it wasn't cheap, but at least I could warm up. I cooked dinner in my motel room and went to sleep. |
